Remember !Between these two photos there are more than seventy
years and many thousands of miles. Thus I am entitled to remember many a good
and bad things. I can remember living in peace and war, during fascism and under
an emerging communist regime. I remember some friends and relations in good and
bad days, some who did not survive the War and some who did, but especially
those who did not. I remember some priests who did not wear their dog collar
while visiting nightclubs, I remember priests, who did not wish to know you
when you needed them most. I remember people who helped you for money and I
remember more, who helped you for no other reason but because of their
humanity.
I remember the feeling of knowing that your life was
saved and also when for the first time in your life you felt free of
politically imposed constraints. I remember re-discovering the stars in the
sky, I remember the feeling of being in love and I remember a beautiful being
holding my children.
I might not be able to tell you everything about the
things I remember, but I'll do my best. Enjoy reading it and let me say that in
spite of the odd set backs experienced during these past years, I enjoyed
living thus far.
I thank my family and
